UK newspapers the Telegraph and the Sun have announced plans to charge people to access their articles onliine. The Times already does this. CNN only let's Live Station users watch for 15 minutes a day without paying, and Al Jazeera used to only allow people to watch without paying or 15 minutes a day.
Sports channels Eurosport and Premier Sport, as well as many sports clubs, charge people to watch live broadcasts.
Spotify imposes restrictions on people who don't pay for it in most countries, and music downloads cost money if you download legally.
Would you be willing to pay for any of the news, sport or music services you access online if they started charging? Do you currently pay for access to any online news, sport or music services?
I currently pay for Spotify Eurosport and music downloads. I will pay for the Telegraph after it has started charging.
I pay for Rhapsody, and Pandora, because I like no adds and the better sound quality.
Yes, if it had something I wanted.
Depends on the content and the nature of the service. I don't mind paying for newspapers if that means will keep the newspaper alife, and freedom of news alife. What bother me is paying for newspapers when all we get is clasify advs, or advs after advs.
I agree with post three. Some of these sites need the money to stay up, and if I like what they have to offer I will certainly pay for them. I also pay to use Pandora and some ITunes features. I'm still debating whether or not I want to pay some money towards Skype for their extra features. I do not pay for any online mags or newspapers.
I agree. If what they're charging is what I would think a reasonable price for the service, and I found it worth my time, it's no different than paying for the old fassioned newspaper, cable tv, or internet access. The people who create said services need to be able to feed themselves and pay their bills just like the rest of us.
